If you are plagued by troubles with your feet then you, undoubtedly, know what foot orthotics are. For those of you who are fortunate enough to have pretty, little, pain-free feet now, you just might need to be aware of what orthotics are for in the future.
Foot orthotics are custom-made inserts that fit inside your shoes to realign your foot the way that it was supposed to be in the first place. These custom-made foot orthotics are expensive, but worth it. You can purchase inserts that are prefabricated for much less money. However, they will not fit you just as perfectly as custom-made foot orthotics will, but they will help somewhat.
Custom-made orthotics are made from a mold of your own foot. There are a couple of different types of orthotics depending on the correction of your foot that is needed. A podiatrist will write a prescription with just the right design that is necessary to help put your foot back into its proper position. An orthotic is then made at a laboratory with the doctor’s written specifications in place.
There are various reasons why you might benefit from foot orthotics. Some of these would include correction of a pronated foot or feet, shock absorption in a runner or a serious walker, correction of hip, leg, or foot abnormalities, or a generally misaligned foot or feet.
Your feet should not cause you any pain. If they do then most likely you have a problem that needs attention. Some indications of a possible foot problem other than pain are callouses, bunions, knee discomfort, back discomfort, heel pain, twisting of the ankles, the soles of the shoes wearing down in certain areas only, inward or outward toeing, shin splints, and/or flatfeet.
I have firsthand knowledge that orthotics will be helpful, although they can be costly. If you have any of the problems as stated above, visit your podiatrist for a proper diagnosis and treatment. If you do not attend to this, the problem will only worsen. Avoid complications and see your podiatrist today for any foot problems and recommended treatment.
