No need for chemical filled, high fat, high sodium, fast food fries when you can make your own. Yes, that’s right; you can make your own. I know what you are thinking. You are thinking that you don’t want the burden of making French fries and deep frying is just a pain. Well, throw out your old conceptions of French fries and make some healthy delicious French fries just the way you love them.
Making French fries is so easy. Here is the basic recipe:
Ingredients
4 Yukon Gold Potatoes (serves about four people so adjust as needed)
4 Tablespoons olive oil (you can use extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil)
2-4 teaspoons salt (natural sea salt works nicely as well)
Directions:
Slice up the potatoes in rectangles making the classic French fry look. You can leave the skin on or remove it. You can also slice it up anyway you want.
Toss with oil.
Place in a baking pan and sprinkle with salt.
Bake at 400 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
TIPS: About 15 minutes in toss the fries for even baking and continue. You may want to put the broiler one the last few minutes if you like them crisp.
Variations: Toss with flavored oil such as garlic, rosemary, basil, etc. Season any way you want from using salt and pepper to spicing it up with cayenne pepper or using paprika, Montreal Chicken Seasoning or another seasoning you enjoy.
