During the time that the late Heath Ledger was shooting “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” shortly before his death the actor penned a letter to director Terry Gilliam’s young daughter Holly. Ledger, a father himself, reportedly ended the letter with his name and a scribbled heart shaped symbol.
That tiny drawing is now serving as the centerpiece of a tribute being paid to the late actor by his former “Imaginarium” castmates. According to reports, the heart shaped symbol has been turned into a tribute tattoo by the cast and crew of Ledger’s final film.
You’ll recall that Ledger was shooting the fantasy film when he passed away five months ago from an accidental overdose. Shortly after the actor was laid to rest Gilliam brought the letter to the set of “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” and showed it to the cast and crew members.
That’s when a few of the Australian actor’s co-stars came up with the idea to turn Ledger’s heart symbol into a tattoo.
Mini-me Verne Troyer and select castmates duplicated the heart and had it etched on their bodies.
Troyer, who wears his heart on his right hand, says, “A lot of us went and copied that heart and had it tattooed in remembrance to Heath. We had it copied identical to how he scribbled it.”
Troyer also revealed that Gilliam allowed his daughter—the recipient of Ledger’s heartfelt letter–to get the heart shape tattoo as well.
