Helpful Tool for Baby

Most parents of infants and toddlers that I know have plenty of things to carry around in their diaper bag. Taking the baby on an outing away from home requires drawn-out planning and proper timing. In addition, it can often be difficult to remember to bring every item that is needed for baby. As a mother of a three month old baby and a two year old toddler myself, I sometimes forget to inventory my diaper bag before I leave somewhere and I often find myself without something when I need it: diaper wipes, a pacifier, a bib, etc.

While I can’t solve all of the problems associated with toting baby around, I do know a convenient way to at least always have a method for keeping a bib on hand:

All you’ll need is two suspender-type clips and about 10 inches of wide elastic to make a bib anywhere that you are. Simply fold one end of the elastic through one clip and sew it together. Repeat for the other end of the elastic. You now have a piece of elastic with clips on both ends. Keep this tool in the diaper bag for whenever you need a bib. Attach it around your child’s neck to whatever is available: a washcloth, cloth or paper napkin, or dish towel. Voila! Now you have an inexpensive way to always have a bib on hand.

You may decide to make a few of these to keep around the house as well. These “bib suspenders” can be a cheaper alternative to bibs. You can make two or three of these and attach them to rags or towels to catch messes.

With all of that bulk in your diaper bag, isn’t it helpful to find a way to reduce the amount of stuff you have to carry around?
