Herbs that Boost Fertility

Herbal remedies have been used for centuries for a variety of health conditions. It seems there is an herbal remedy for nearly every condition. This ancient medicine is gaining in popularity as more people discover the benefits of herbal and homeopathic remedies.

There are some herbs that are believed to be beneficial for fertility. These shouldn’t all be taken at once. Choose those that are most beneficial for you. Some of these herbs should only be taken during the first half of the cycle. These should be stopped after ovulation. Others can be taken throughout the cycle.

Herbs that Boost Fertility:

* Black Cohosh relieves cramping and prevents muscles spasms. This herb can be used in the first half of the cycle. It shouldn’t be used after ovulation.

* Evening Primrose Oil helps improve the cervical mucous making it more receptive and less hostile for sperm. Since Evening Primrose Oil can cause uterine contractions, it shouldn’t be taken after ovulation.

* Chaste Berry is called the female herb. It is helpful for regulating hormones. This herb is safe throughout the menstrual cycle.

* Red Raspberry Leaf strengthens the uterus and helps improve the luteal phase. It can be taken throughout the cycle, but should be discontinued if you become pregnant. Red Raspberry Leaf is sometimes used in pregnancy, but not until the second or even third trimesters.

* False Unicorn is believed to help improve female fertility. This herb should be discontinued after ovulation.

* Red Clover is thought to help with unexplained infertility and scarring of the fallopian tubes. This herb takes a few months to work.

It is important to remember that herbal remedies are medicinal. This means the herbal remedies you are using may not react well with certain fertility drugs. For this reason, it is generally advised that both herbal remedies and fertility drugs not be taken at the same time.

Herbal remedies can react with other medications as well. This is true for both prescription and over the counter medicines. For this reason, you should check with your doctor before taking any herbal remedy. Since many doctors have little knowledge of herbal medicine, it may be best to check with a naturopathic doctor as well.
