Do you remember Troy and Gabriella? Their first encounter startled them both as they shared a tune and a great moment at a ski lodge over Christmas. High School Musical was a somewhat sappy, but altogether entertaining film featured on the Disney Channel. They later released the movie on DVD and the sales declared its popularity. High School Musical has also traveled the country as a concert tour and an ice show. Soundtracks fly off the shelves. We own a copy of it here and my daughter loves it.
Disney is better on the popularity of the first to attract viewers to the sequel. Due to be released on August 17th, we’ll finally have the answer to the question of whether Troy and Gabriella will actually kiss? What about Sharpay, is she going to actually learn to play with others? High School Musical 2 is actually a highly anticipated film for the direct to DVD market.
What’s It About?
The stars from the original High School Musical including Zac Efron, Vanessa Anne Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale return to entertain viewers as they travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Troy gets a job at country club and then works to get Gabriella a position as a lifeguard. The idea is to give the two of them a chance to spend time together. Troy is apparently unaware of Ashley’s desire to keep them apart.
Chad, Zeke, Martha, Taylor, Jason and Kelsi also put in an appearance. The group gear up to present a Midsummer Night’s Talent Show as a part of an entertainment extravaganza at the Country Club. Troy and
Gabriella really want to make the winning duet, but Sharpay plans to spoil that for them. Kenny Ortega returns to the director’s chair.
And if this isn’t enough for you, well there’s another sequel due out for theatrical release in 2008: Haunted High School Musical.
Do you own the first High School Musical? Will you likely buy the second?
