Parents of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu fans brace yourselves… it appears the popular kids from Disney’s “High School Musical” series aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“High School Musical 3” hasn’t even started shooting (filming begins in two weeks in Utah and it’ll be in movie theaters in the fall) and the folks at Disney are already working on “High School Musical 4.”
According to Disney execs, the script for “High School Musical 4” is in the process of being inked and as it stands now the project will likely be a TV movie unlike “High School Musical 3: Senior Year,” which will debut on the big screen, though that could change.
Movie producers won’t confirm whether the entire cast will reunite for “High School Musical 4,” but say they are hopeful that Efron, Hudgens, Tisdale and Bleu will sign on for a fourth go-round.
And why not? The high school saga launched the foursome’s careers and the series is a phenomenal success. The second TV movie shattered cable TV records last summer with a premiere watched by nearly 20 million viewers and helped boost the Disney Channel to the No. 1 position among cable networks in primetime in 2007.
“High School Musical 55,” anyone?
Another familiar act riding the gravy train on TV is brother and sister duo Donny and Marie Osmond.
The pair recently confirmed that they will help salute the nation’s top moms as co-hosts of an NBC special scheduled to air Mother’s Day night.
Nominations for “America’s Favorite Mom” are being accepted through April 25 in the categories of inspirational single moms, working moms, stay-at-home moms, unconventional moms and military moms. A winner will be chosen by an online viewer poll and crowned by the Osmonds in front of a live audience.
