Let’s continue our discussion about getting credits on Paper Back Swap.
Getting Credits Continued
The books that you make available to swap are added to your virtual bookshelf. When someone is interested in one of your books, they order it. You then have the option of letting the system know that you will mail it out and when. Once the other member receives your book in the mail, you get a credit. You can also speed this process up by selecting delivery confirmation. You have to pay extra for this service, but you will get your credit faster. I usually stay away from delivery confirmation, since the fee can quickly add up over time, and I haven’t lost a book yet.
Choosing the Least Costly Books to Mail
So where can you get books, and what type of books will earn you the most? Well, all books, no matter what they are, are traded for one credit each. That means that an over-large hard cover coffee gives you the same credit as a paper back. The difference is that the over-large ten-pound book may cost you $5.38 or more to mail, while the paperback will cost you about $2.23 with the recent postal changes. (When I started with Paper Back Swap, a paperback cost $2.13 to mail.) So in essence, you can “pay” $5.38 for a credit or only $2.13, depending on what you mail to other. Balance that with the fact that it is easier to trade more expensive books, because they have more value in themselves and are more coveted.
We’ll talk about reducing your mailing expenses a little bit later, including how to pay less than everyone else. For now, just understand that the books you choose to exchange can cost you different amounts.
Check back again. There is so much more to know about getting the most value from using Paper Back Swap! We’ll talk about finding books, getting more books per credit and reducing your mailing expenses, as well as other secret strategies.
