Use Holiday Books for Decorating
If you have Christmas books, stack them up on the coffee table and tie a pretty ribbon around them. If you have only one, make covers for other books and place the Christmas book on top. If you don’t have any, make a book cover so the top one looks like a Christmas story. Tie the ribbon a little loosely, and turn each book to one side just a bit so the edges of each one peek out. Tuck a Christmas pick into the bow or hot glue some small pinecones or ornaments to the bow.
Another idea for a quick, easy table-scape is to stand a Christmas book up (you can place a small item behind each cover to keep it in place). Swirl some tissue paper around the base of the book and sprinkle it with glitter. Add candies or tiny decorations randomly in the folds of the tissue paper.
*The idea above is also a good way to display Christmas cards.
Make Boxes into Wintry Decorations
A sturdy cardboard box can be instantly transformed into an attractive decoration. Paint the box a festive color or cover it with wrapping paper, wallpaper remnants, contact paper, or fabric. Cut out some paper snowflakes in different sizes. Smooth them out and tape them to the box to use as stencils. Apply spray snow through the snowflake stencil and allow it to dry. If the box has a lid, do the lid too, and place it on top. If you don’t have the lid, you can put tissue paper inside, fluffed up so it peeks out. Sprinkle glitter on the tissue paper if desired.
