Holiday Escape

How much are you willing to spend NOT to have to attend your family’s annual holiday get-togethers… and deal with the piles of dirty laundry, mountains of filthy dishes and rooms of punctured air mattresses? I know a lot of people who would rather grab their spouse and kids and skip the whole fa-la-la-la extended family gatherings.

If you have the guts to breakout on your own this holiday season there are many, many resorts around the world that are more than happy to host you and your immediate family, including:

Stratton Mountain Resort: This popular Vermont travel destination allows kids 17 and under to stay and ski for free. In addition, they are currently offering package deals for families of four, for less than $250 per night.

Bolton Valley Resort: The northern Vermont resort is offering an amazing travel deal for families. The ski-and-stay package is priced at just $139 for adults and $30 for kids. The packages includes: lodging, breakfast, skiing, and even a torchlight parade, fireworks and a party on New Year’s Eve.

Loews Coronado Bay Resort: The upscale San Diego-area hotel is offering a Big Boomerang package, which gives guests 30 percent off a second room, spa or surfing, sailboat or motorboat rental. Even better news: Rates start at just $169 for the first room.

Barcelo Hotels & Resorts: The all-inclusive property in Mexico, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic is gifting guests with 30 percent savings on stays between Christmas Eve and next spring, as long as you book by November 30, 2010.

Appalachian Mountain Club: Grab the kids and head to the White Mountains of New Hampshire during the weekend of December 10th for the 8th Annual Gingerbread festival at the family-friendly resort. For less than $400 per family (of four) you will be treated to lodging, most meals, gingerbread house decorating, nature walks and fireside games.
