Holiday Photo Cards

Christmas will be here before you know it. Somehow it seems to come earlier every year unless you are a 5 year old waiting for a special toy under the tree. It feels too early to think about Christmas but it is time to think about holiday photo cards.

I spent years waiting until the last minute and not being able to order holiday photo cards. One year I was rushed to get it in that I had to choose pictures I was not thrilled with. The best way to get a holiday photo card you are proud to send is to plan in advance. Before it is socially acceptable to listen to Christmas music it is time to plan for those cards. Everyone loves getting special photo cards of loved ones. I always keep the photo cards I get on my fridge.

The past two years I have successfully sent out photo cards I loved. I chose to use Shutterfly but one year I used Walgreens. While Shutterfly has more options and the quality is superior, Walgreens is easier on the budget. I also found out that you can have the photo cards in an hour! So, this year even if you procrastinate there is always Walgreens.

As far as choosing pictures, it is best to choose your favorites of the year. The picture does not have to be a winter scene. I do think winter scenes look lovely if you can have it done in time. You can also plan a “photo shoot” of your children. Get them dressed up and play “Christmas” or dress up in snowsuits for the purpose of just taking some fun pictures. Have fun to get the best poses and smiles. Use a picture that captures your child’s personality and it will be perfect even if it isn’t snowing outside.
