There are other considerations you might need to take into account regarding holidays and your marriage. One is how much planning.
Do you want to stay in one place or keep moving? Some people are happy to get in the car or on the plane or train and go off and let the holiday just happen. Others would prefer to plan well beforehand.
This can have advantages in getting better hotel or bed and breakfasts deals if you plan but it may mean ending up staying longer at a place even if you don’t like it overly because up have already booked in for a certain length of time and will be charged anyway even if you don’t stay.
When we went overseas we felt we missed out on several things in England like Stonehenge and parts of Cornwall, by not planning well enough and just driving from place to place.
On the other hand, we wished we had not booked in for more than one night in Venice as neither of us liked it, finding it claustrophobic and dirty with its narrow streets and canals.
Also neither of us much liked having to live out of a suitcase for a few weeks and only spending a couple of days in each place. If we were to do an overseas holiday again, which doesn’t look likely to happen, we would probably rather stay in one place than be on the move all the time.
So it’s important for your marriage to know if you are a couple who wants to go with the flow and just see how a trip pans out for if you want it planned , which thanks to the internet these days is so easy, done to the last detail. I will say, of our accommodation booked beforehand, the majority of it was exactly what we wanted. So it’s about knowing who you are as a couple and what you require. Join me tomorrow for more.
