She’s not expecting twins, but when actress Michelle Williams made her debut on the red carpet at Cannes yesterday she drew as much attention as Hollywood’s most famous pregnant mom Angelina Jolie.
Williams’ appearance at Cannes marked her first public interview since Heath Ledger’s death more than four months ago.
The 27-year-old actress arrived in the south of France Thursday to walk the red carpet for the premiere of her new film “Wendy and Lucy.” She will reportedly remain at the world’s most famous film festival to promote “Synecdoche, New York,” a Charlie Kaufman film, in which she costars alongside Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener.
The two-day trip also marks Williams’ first ever appearance at Cannes and she got off to a brilliant start by strolling down the famous red carpet wearing a sheer, white lace number.
But Williams’ wasn’t the only one donning winter white on a late spring evening. Cannes juror Natalie Portman had heads turning and tongues wagging when she appeared on the red carpet last night wearing a daring design choice—a Jetsons inspired white Givenchy Haute Couture dress.
The young, hip actress has debuted a colorful line up of Chanel and Lanvin ruffed creations this week, but when she hit the red carpet for the AmFAR benefit at the legendary film festival last night tonight crowds (and photographers) went wild as she strutted her stuff in the sculptured frock.
Meanwhile, Bollywood knock out Aishwarya Rai could have worn a paper bag to the Cannes Film Festival and still stole the show.
The stunning brunette made her appearance at the movie extravaganza’s red carpet this year as a model for L’Oreal. But it won’t be long before the actress returns to the big screen (and the red carpet) in next year’s “The Pink Panther 2.” Rai can also be seen in the upcoming “Sarkar Raj” the sequel to the 2005 film “Sarkar,” in which she starred alongside her actor husband Abhishek Bachchan.
