What’s going on in the lives of the rich and famous? The Hollywood rumor mill is working overtime this week–here’s the latest on the actor the world knew as “Superman,” a legendary singer, and a rocker who loves all things purple.
More fact than rumor… and welcome news at that: Christopher Reeve’s children are carrying on their dad’s crusade: finding a cure for paralysis. November 6th is a big day for the Reeve children (Alexandra and Matthew Reeve both serve on the board of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, which Reeve established to fund research for therapies and a cure) as they, along with their 14-year-old half brother, Will Reeve host the foundation’s annual gala in New York.
You’ll recall Christopher Reeve was paralyzed in 1995 following a horse-riding accident. He died in 2004 at age 52. And sadly, earlier this year, his wife, Dana Reeve, died of lung cancer leaving young Will to navigate through life without the aid of his parents.
Music fans are painting Sin City purple after hearing that rocker Prince plans to fire up that Little Red Corvette and head for Las Vegas. According to news reports, the purple one will be performing there every weekend starting November 10th.
Reports say the Grammy winner will play Friday and Saturday night shows at 3121, a nightclub inside the Rio hotel. Tickets average about $125 and the shows are restricted to guests 21-and-over. Rumor has it Prince has agreed to perform at the club indefinitely.
Wonder if he consulted with Celine Dion before taking the gig? By signing the club deal he now joins Dion, Elton John, Barry Manilow and Toni Braxton as songsters who have settled in Vegas hotels as regularly featured acts.
Finally, while this may be hard to believe (it was for me), I can almost guarantee this next tidbit is more real than rumor: Julio Iglesias and his longtime girlfriend Miranda Rijnsburger are expecting another baby together. Why is that hard to believe? Well, for starters, this will be the couple’s fifth child together and the ninth for the legendary Latin crooner. What’re more, Iglesias is now 63, Rijnsburger is 41, and they are all ready busy running after 5-year-old twin daughters Victoria and Cristina, and two sons, Miguel Alejandro, 9, and Rodrigo, 7 (which is great—the more the merrier). But the reason I was stunned by the news was because when I heard the name “Iglesias” and the word “baby” in the same sentence I thought it was in reference to the pregnancy rumors surrounding Julio’s son Enrique and his girlfriend, pro tennis player Anna Kournikova, but in fact, according to Hollywood insiders, the whispers that the young couple is expecting a bundle of joy is RUMOR.
