Hollywood’s Talking About…

ROBIN ROBERTS

The co-anchor of Good Morning America choked back tears today while announcing to viewers that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 46-year-old TV journalist shared the news on air and online this morning.

“I didn’t want you to hear it from anyone else. … I have breast cancer, as my family here [at ABC] knows, and my family at home knows. And I’m very, very blessed and thankful that I found it early,” Roberts said.

Roberts also revealed the circumstances surrounding her diagnosis. The Louisiana native explained she discovered a lump in her breast during a routine self-examination earlier this month. Roberts says she was inspired to do the self examine the day after Good Morning America aired a tribute to Joel Siegel, the program’s film critic, who died of colon cancer last month.

According to Roberts, she will undergo surgery this Friday and begin treatment shortly thereafter. Roberts said she plans to continue working at Good Morning America while she receives follow up treatment.

Roberts has been a co-anchor on Good Morning America since May 2005. She got into broadcasting while she was student and basketball star at Southeastern Louisiana University.

IVANA TRUMP

Wedding bells are ringing again for Ivana Trump.

According to her rep, the former Mrs. Donald Trump has decided to marry again, this time to her 35-year-old on-again, off-again boyfriend Rossano Rubicondi. The 58-year-old socialite reportedly was presented with a boulder-sized pink diamond engagement ring just a few days ago.

Trump’s rep says that Ivana plans to make a formal announcement about her upcoming nuptials when she returns to New York from the Mediterranean where she and her now fiancé are spending the summer.

The couple has known each other for five years. This will be Trump’s fourth marriage.

Her first marriage was to her childhood sweetheart George Syrovatka, whom she wed in the late 1960s and reportedly divorced in 1976. The following year she married The Donald (that marriage lasted 13 years). Then shortly after their divorce, she married Riccardo Mazzucchelli. That union lasted less than two years. I don’t give this next marriage (if they even make it down the aisle at all) much longer than that.
