There are many different types of clocks for the home and even for the yard or garden. Not only are they functional but many are also quite stylish as well. Some are even used as art pieces as well as time pieces.
Alarm Clocks
Alarm clocks are generally more functional than stylish although there are some cute ones available, including those decorated with trademark characters for kids. When it comes to function look for electric clocks that also have battery back up. This feature is especially handy if you live in an area that is prone to power outages during severe weather.
Fashion Statements
Many clocks are designed to coordinate with specific design styles. From the grandfather clock to the modern, they add interest to your décor. Stainless or other metallic frames go nicely with modern or industrial styles. Wood frames are generally preferred with a traditional look. There also some great vintage and retro clocks available.
Theme Clocks
Most often we find theme clocks in the kitchen clocks or children’s section. Clocks that look like teapots, coffee pots, coffee cups, roosters, different types of food, and more add a whimsical touch to kitchen décor. Sports themes, animals, flowers, princesses, and other cute ideas are perfect for kid’s rooms.
Outdoor Clocks
I never really gave much thought to outdoor clocks, but on a whim I decided to check it out. When sitting outside relaxing, it’s nice to know what time it is without having to go indoors to find out. Outdoor clocks also have a lot of charm and style from Terra Cotta garden styles and other stone and slate faces to animal or plant designs. You can even find outdoor clocks to coordinate with the architecture of your home or to match designer mailboxes or other outdoor décor such as weathervanes and thermometers.
