You may have noticed by now that I like to offer suggestions for home-based business ideas that you can make as big or as small as you like, depending upon what your needs are right now. Businesses that are flexible and can grow or shrink as the owner’s needs and the needs of their family change are often an ideal fit for many home-based professionals because their needs can and do change, sometimes in ways that they never could have predicted. Today’s flexible home-based business idea is selling items on eBay. You can start as an occasional seller with just a few items from around the house, or you can go all in and open a full-fledged eBay store.
There are many ins and outs to selling on eBay, so be sure to read not only the how-to information on eBay before you get started but also look at some of the other helpful blog posts and web sites that have information about selling on eBay. There is no need to pay for information about how to be successful on eBay. Many people have written great articles and blog posts with valuable tips and tricks for eBay sellers.
Today, I came across a few tips for eBay sellers that I thought were really great. For example, did you know that the best day of the week to end an auction is Sunday? Once you think about it, it makes total sense. If you are selling items auction-style, people want to be at home to check on the item as the auction ends so that they can increase their bid if they really, truly must have it. People like to be able to be right there when the auction ends so that they’ll know if they have won, too. As far as what time on Sunday is best for ending an auction, 10PM Eastern Standard Time (7PM Pacific) is a good time because it does not require anyone in those time zones to stay up late to bid or check whether they have won. Of course, people from all over the world could be bidding and some of them may be waking up early or going to bed late to do so – but only if you allow international bids. It is a good idea to permit international bids because it increases the likelihood that you will find someone who absolutely has to have what you are selling and will outbid others in order to get it. These two tips alone are just the “tip” of the eBay tips iceberg – many other great suggestions abound, so before you list that first item, do a little reading to see how you can get your eBay selling career off to a great start.
