Home Business Help: Computer Training

If you are considering a home business, getting some computer training is a good idea. Even if the business you have in mind isn’t computer related, you’ll find that bookkeeping and other record keeping is quicker and easier when computerized. There are also lots of other things you can do with your computer that will come in handy, from making presentations, to filing your tax return. Also, if you haven’t decided on a business yet, you might find something that you can do using your computer, such as selling on EBay.

You may have seen John Scherer, the founder of Video Professor, on TV. He’s the guy that says, “Try my Product.” His product is CD computer lessons, and he offers to let you try one free (well, for the cost of shipping). There are plenty of lessons to choose from such as Excel, QuickBooks, Power Point, and even a lesson about Buying and Selling on EBay. There are many more, which you can check out at the Video Professor website. Mr. Scherer is currently offering $10.00 if you are not delighted with your lesson.

So, why is he basically giving stuff away? The word “free” usually sends up red flags. In this case, Mr. Scherer claims that he can afford to let you try a lesson free, because he knows you will appreciate his product so much, that you’ll turn to his company for future needs. He’s been around for quite a while, so his claims may well be valid.

Since there is nothing to lose, not even the shipping costs since there’s a $10.00 guarantee, it’s worth a try. I’m trying to decide which lesson I want to examine, and I’m thinking that the EBay one sounds good. I’ve always wanted to try my luck on EBay.

Another option for computer training is community colleges. Many offer brief, basic courses that are low cost or even free. Check with schools in your area to find out what is available.
