Ready for your weekly cleaning chore list? Saturday is a good day to review this, since it may give you time to get started and see what you need to do. Most people tend to make Saturdays their big cleaning day. Remember that this is only a guideline. It is okay to tweak it a bit to make it fit for your family.
Me, I like to try and spread the tasks out throughout the week, if I can, to leave the weekends free for family adventures. I find that tackling one or two weekly tasks on a set day of the week can help keep me on track. The task are still getting done on a weekly basis, but I don’t feel as if all I am overwhelmed with cleaning all day long.
Either way, be sure to enlist the help of the rest of the family. Even a preschooler can dust or empty waste baskets.
Here is the weekly cleaning chore list:
Dust your home.
Dusting is one of those chores that can be as boring or as fun as you make it. Invest in a pretty feather duster or use an old pillowcase, whichever works for you. Put on some of your favorite upbeat music to keep you going. The best way to dust is to start from the top down. Attack the upper floors first, dusting the highest spots to the lowest. You’ll need to dust the furniture, the knick-knacks, and the electronics, such as the television, DVD, VCR, etc.
Do the laundry.
If you haven’t been taking advantage of the extra credit daily task of doing one load of laundry a day, then you’ll need to do all of your loads now, once a week. Don’t forget to put that last load on the line or in the dryer. There is nothing worse then realizing that you still have wet clothes in the washer after three days, yuck.
Clean the bathrooms.
If you have been doing your extra credit and wiping down the bathrooms on a daily basis, then this task will be a breeze to complete and should take you no more than five to ten minutes. Get all of those spots that aren’t part of your daily cleaning routine, such as the base of the toilet, the tub and shower, the mirrors, and if necessary, the tile. It is also a good time to switch out hand towels for clean ones, and check on your stores of soap, shampoo and bathroom tissue.
