Home Office in a Shared Space

Creating a home office space to suit your needs is essential to keeping you organized and your mind on business. Your space needs to be organized, clean, and comfortable for you. Many are fortunate enough to have a room devoted to a home office. An entire room will give you plenty of privacy and storage options. However, a vast number of those who work at home are left being creative in a home office which is only a small part of another room such as a dining room or a bedroom. In fact, I have my home office in my dining room and overflow storage in my bedroom. So how can you maintain an organized office space in a shared space?

Tips:

Purchase a corner desk and shelves for the wall to make yourself a nice little office nook.

Use space under a stairway or a hallway to create a small office space or shelving for your office needs.

If you have a guest room with a walk in closet you may want to convert into an office space. You will have to get it wired but with the right folding door or curtain you may find a little nook perfect for your office.

If your office is in your dining room be sure your desk matches in theme to the rest of the room. Make all your office accessories match the theme. This will offer a more cohesive look so your little office will not stick out like a sore thumb.

Purchase an armoire computer desk to set in the corner of a living room, dining room or bedroom to keep your office out of site during your off hours.

Keep your desk clean! When your office is in a shared space you will find a messy desk will cause you stress or the feeling your area is never organized or clean.

Be creative and use a buffet or china cabinet drawer for files or supplies to keep them out of site but in the room so you have easy access. An under the bed storage box is great for offices in the bedroom.
