Homemade Valentine’s Decorations

Whether you are hosting a Valentine’s Day party, or you simply want to make your home more festive for your family, these easy Love Day decorations are sure to please. In fact, the paper crafts are so simple to make, your children could put them together themselves. When you are done display your handiwork in open spaces for everyone to enjoy.

LOVE BUG

Materials:

Construction Paper

Pipe Cleaners

Googly Eyes

Black Marker

Paint

Glitter

Glue

Doilies

Directions:

Trace and cut a large heart shape out of construction paper.

Trace and cut a smaller heart shape out of a different color of paper.

Use a black marker, crayons or pant to make dots (hearts or other shapes) on the large heart.

Glue the smaller heart with the pointed end towards the top of the larger heart.

Glue on eyes.

Glue pipe cleaner antennae on the body.

Glue doilies on the back. These are the love bug’s wings.

Embellish with glitter.

Allow glue to dry thoroughly before displaying.

HEART PEOPLE

Materials:

Construction paper in different colors

Glue

Paper Doilies

Directions:

Using different colored construction paper, trace and cut out hearts, ranging in size from two to six inches.

Glue the hearts together in different combinations to form heart people, using large hearts for heads and bodies, smaller ones for arms and legs.

Decorate each body with markers and doilies.

Write a valentine message on it for a special someone or simply display as is.

TISSUE PAPER HEARTS

Materials:

Tissue Paper

Paint

Directions:

Set out cups of paint (red, pink, lavender, and purple work well) and sheets of tissue paper in a solid color. Decorate each piece of tissue paper with two fingerprints or thumbprints joined together to form a heart.

HEART MAGNETS

Materials:

Memo magnets

Small wooden hearts

Glue

Directions:

Paint the small wooden hearts in desired color, let dry, and glue a magnet on the back. It’s a sweet way to display cards and photos.
