It doesn’t matter if you’re a stay at home mom (or dad), work at home mom, or if you work outside the home; anyone that helps make a house a home is a homemaker by my definition.
Try these tips:
Work on Sleep
A great way to work on a good night’s sleep is to put off simple chores (nothing strenuous) until shortly before bed. Folding a load of towels or matching socks while watching TV is a good example. You’ll go to bed with a sense of accomplishment and one less item on your “to do” list for tomorrow. Getting and increased amount of sleep as well as sleep that is more restful is important to our wellbeing, both physically and emotionally. Most of us try to make sure other members of the family get enough rest, but we need to do the same for ourselves.
Plan and Prepare Lunches in Advance
If you take a lunch to work or pack lunches for school, it helps to collect everything you need for the week instead of digging through the fridge and the pantry to throw something together. It’s also a good idea to pack lunches the night before instead of rushing around in the morning. My kids’ schools no longer hand out lunch menus (to save paper) but I can check the lunch menu online, to find out ahead of time how many lunches will be needed during the week.
Organize your Errands
When you have to run household errands, it helps to make a plan in advance so you can get as many things done in one outing as possible (this is especially true for those like me that don’t live as close to “town” or to local amenities). I try to make circle instead of going back and forth or making extra trips, and I try to add to my list when I need to go out anyway. It saves time, stress, and gas.
