I tell people all the time to never get too comfortable that they know everything they need to know about homeschooling, and to never stop looking for new resources because new homeschooling websites and curriculum are started every day. In the last couples of weeks alone, I have discovered Life of Fred, and the Homeschool Buyers Co-op.
The homeschool buyers co-op is an organization organized to pool the buying power of homeschoolers in an effort to allow us the same curriculum prices schools enjoy. Free membership (with a promise to not sell information), affords deep discounts on many popular and also many lesser know curriculums.
Homeschool buyers co-op also has a system called Smartpoints that allows users to collect points and then spend them on other curriculums. For example, if you purchase Rosetta Stone through Homeschool Buyers Co-op, you get the best discount available for the program, which is a moderate discount. However, you will collect a great deal of points which you can use to purchase other valuable items.
Other perks in the Homeschool Buyers Co-op are a free homeschool membership ID, a free curriculum database, a database of contests, and scholarships, and a homeschool curriculum swap.
Whether you intend to purchase a great deal of curriculum or not, it would behoove you to join this website and check it out. It does not cost you anything to join, and the more people join the better off you will be because there is power in numbers. Find out more at the Homeschool Buyers Co-op.
