Getting involved with other homeschoolers is very important to a family’s success in homeschooling It is important to join a homeschool network or support group in your area, There are also many homeschooling groups as well as many homeschooling classes, and programs that your students can enjoy. In this series, we are covering homeschool groups and resources across the country. This installment will cover Indiana homeschool groups and resources, N-Z.
Northeastern Indiana Catholic Home Educators (NICHE) Catholic Homeschool Support Group for Fort Wayne, Indiana and surrounding areas.
South Central Indiana Home Educators (SCIHE) Serving the Columbus, IN area, this is a Christian homeschool group, offering monthly newsletter, monthly moms’ meetings, and weekly band, vocal choir, string ensemble & handbell choir (for 4th-12th grades). There are field trips and co-ops available monthly. Teen Times are also held monthly. A great Kick-Off Picnic is held in August. Signed statement of faith and $20 annual dues are required for membership.
The Catholic Family Home School Support Organization This is a A Roman Catholic support group located in Northern Indiana.
The Master’s Study TMS is a school for home educators located on the north side of Indianapolis. Meeting every Monday for kindergarten through rhetoric classes, TMS studies the cultures of history from a Classical and Christian perspective. Core subjects are humane letters which includes history, geography, literature and writing (progymnasmata), and also art, music, Latin, science and choir.
Tippecanoe Tornados This group provides Basketball, volleyball, soccer and cheerleading for junior high and high school boys and/or girls. Affiliated with Homeschool Unified Sports Teams of Lafayette (HUSTL).
Together, Educating And Mentoring (TEAM) This is an inclusive group of home schooling families whose purpose is to provide mutual fellowship, support and education to other homeschoolers. There are monthly gatherings, field trips, Mom’s Night Out, free gym time at area churches, student presentation days and a small children’s playgroup. TEAM is an inclusive group.
West Central Hoosier Homeschoolers This is a non-denominatioal group, very active and welcoming to new members. The group plans field trips, gym day, and various activities that encourage our children to get out and about in our community.
White County Home Educators (WCHE) White County, IN and surrounding area, This is a Christian support group, that offers field trips, activities, groups and clubs, and mentoring.
White River Christian Home Educators (WRC)
WRC is a parent-led, Christian faith-based learning co-op that meets weekly. Along with classes for school age children, we have a nursery and preschool classes for the younger ones. WRC also has a drama troupe that puts on two plays per year, one for 8-12 year old children and the other for 12 and up. information, email janetbabyart@aol.com
