Homeschool Prom-Watch 2007

It is time to kill the myth. You know, the myth that says homeschoolers have no socialization and do not get to go to prom. Well, it is time to do a homeschool prom-watch. Look to the homeschool forums on families.com as I have started a database for prom organizers or participants to give info on their proms. (If you want to list your prom, please put your state in the headline.)

We are still in the first week of March, and a good amount of homeschool proms are in the planning stages. Here are a few of the homeschool proms I am aware of:

  • North Alabama Christian School is having a prom for homeschoolers on April 21. All Homeschoolers in Alabama and their guests are welcome.
  • Home’sCOOL, a homeschooling group in southern California had a winter dance in January.
  • Charity Prom for Homeschooled High Schoolers is having a prom in March at the Santa Anita, California Race Track
  • The Elk Grove Christian Formal is having a formal for grades 7 through 13 (not a typo). This even is in Elk Grove Park, on May 11. This is also in California.
  • Georgia’s Christian Homeschool Prom is at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. You must be 16 to attend this formal event.
  • The 11th Annual South Florida Homeschool Prom is May 4. Ages 14 and up (including Alumni) are welcome. It will be held at the Signature Grand.
  • Broward Christian Homeschoolers in South Florida is having a formal event for ages 14 and up (including alumni) on May 18.
  • The Sixth Annual SOS Jr. Sr. Home School Prom (Florida) is May 10.
  • The Voyagers’ Massachusetts Home School Formal for ages 13-19 is May 10.
  • Fourth Annual NJ Spring Prom for Homeschoolers is Sunday April 29 at Jenkinson’s Pavilion on The Boardwalk. It is open to all teen homeschoolers and their guests, including out of state teen homeschoolers.
  • In the Ohio Cincinnati area, there will be a formal event on May 18 for ages 15 and up.
  • The Mid TN Homeschool Prom invites all high school age homeschoolers to a Midnight Masquerade on May 4.
  • In Texas, you can attend the Christian Homeschool Prom entitled Moonlight on the Mediterranean on Saturday May 5.

These are just some of the homeschool proms going on around the country. Go to the forums page for contact information, which I will be adding shortly. Also, if you know of a prom in your area, please add it to the forums with the state name in the title.
