Homeschooling for Free, Part two

If you are looking for ways to homeschool your kids for free (or with minimal financial output), there are many online resources you can use. Some time ago, Valorie Delp gave a great list of free websites you can use for homeschooling in her post Homeschooling for free.

I am adding to this list with a part 2 that adds newer online programs you can use.

The Lab of Mr. Q offers monthly lab notes plus a free 38-week curriculum for homeschoolers at www.eequalsmcq.com. The course is Classic Science: Elementary Life Science. If you like the curriculum you may want to leave Mr. Q a PayPal donation so that he can keep offering cool resources for kids.

Merriam-Webster has a website that offers several free daily features such as a daily crossword, a word game, a word of the day, and a daily podcast. They have most recently added a free Visual Dictionary Online that teaches vocabulary by associating words with images.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology offers free resources that help students through video demonstrations, AP exam preparation, and to help them prepare for college level science. You will find AP Biology, AP Calculus, and AP physics.

Simply Charlotte Mason is a free curriculum guide for anyone doing Charlotte Mason type homeschooling. It includes a planner that is designed for Charlotte Mason users along with free dictation exercises, free manuscript copy work, and a full curriculum guide.

Brainish is a website that has free school age math. It provides students with rigorous exercises of more than 160 math skills. It rewards students with video game exercises for doing the math exercises and so it keeps them engaged in learning.
