Getting involved with other homeschoolers is very important to a family’s success in homeschooling. It is important to join a homeschool network or support group in your area, There are also many homeschooling groups as well as many homeschooling classes, and programs that your students can enjoy. In this series, we are covering home schooling groups and resources across the country. This installment is for Idaho.
Homeschool North Idaho is the website of a homeschool mom/realtor who provides homeschool information around Idaho. She also gives information about relocating to Idaho, a homeschool friendly state.
Rocky Mountain Education Connection RMEC Is a friendly, inclusive homeschool and unschooling network in Colorado and surrounding states. They have legal and support links and networks, and provide inspiration and humor for homeschool families.
Bonner County Homeschool Group Is an inclusive homeschool group that welcomes all homeschoolers. They serve Priest River, Priest Lake, Blanchard and Sandpoint. The groups goal is combines strengths for the good of all the areas homeschool students.
Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy is a charter school for homeschoolers. Many of its current students were formerly homeschooled.
Idaho Falls Homeschool Association is an inclusive group from homeschoolers from birth to high school.
Inland Northwest Christian Homeschoolers is a homeschool co-op in Northern Idaho, specifically the Coer D’Alene area and Spokane Valley areas in Washington.
North Idaho Home Educators Association NIHEA is a Christian support group for homeschoolers in the Hayden area. There are monthly support/skate meetings, a newsletter, political alerts, and many other educational and fun activities on a consistent basis.
North Idaho Natural Families A community for natural living families to come together, share ideas, make friendships and support one another here in North Idaho (including Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Post Falls, Sandpoint and all surrounding areas). Interests in this group include organic foods, growing/raising your own food, sustainable living, recycling, upcycling, Attachment Parenting, gentle discipline, Waldorf education philosophy, voluntary simplicity, holistic medicine, vegan diet, vegetarian diet, raw food diet, homebirth, natural birth, cloth diapering, breastfeeding, co-ops, progressive & free-spirited homeschooling, unschooling, upschooling, TJED, etc.
Port Cities Home Educators seeks to encourage and support homeschooling families. This is a Christian group with dress and behavioral codes. The provide sports, graduation, yearbook, parties, and co-ops.
Southwest Idaho Homeschooling Information This group is designed to be an information resource and support to homeschoolers in the Southwest Idaho/Treasure Valley area. Many of the people in this group meet in person for outings, field trips, support and friendship. Join us and share your favorite field trip locations, curriculum, methods, beliefs, ideas and any other information that may be of interest to other homeschoolers.
Spokane Homeschoolers An inclusive group of homeschooling families in the Eastern Washington/North Idaho area surrounding Spokane. SHS exists both as an active online resource and an IRL alternative to other local homeschool groups as a place for hsers to play, learn, and relax with each other in a context where homeschooling, not religion, is the primary common denominator.
