I am relaying the available and current information that is subject to change. Compulsory School Age

“Five years of age and over and under eighteen years of age” Parents can sign a waiver for their five or six year olds to delay schooling.

There is only one legal option for homeschooling in Connecticut. The rules are to establish and operate a home school. There is required attendance, and it is typically 180 days per year. The required subjects that must be taught include Reading, Writing, Spelling, English, Grammar, Geography, Arithmetic, United States History, and Citizenship. There are no requirements or teacher certifications needed for parents to teach their children. You will also need to file a Notice of Intent within ten days of beginning your homeschooling program. The Notice of Intent will need to include the name of the teacher, the subjects taught, the days of attendance, and the method you are using for teaching. You will also be required to maintain a portfolio that exhibits the current work in all of the required courses.

There is a religious freedom act that is in effect in the state of Connecticut. This basically states that families are protected by the law to homeschool their children. It also protects them from undue targeting or harassment by the state.
