Before I start let me say that this is not legal advice. As someone who lives in a state that is highly regulated, I cannot emphasize enough the need for you to advocate for yourself and make a point to know your state laws. While the school district will most likely provide you with a printed copy of the laws and regulations for home schooling, a local home schooling group can be a valuable asset when it comes to navigating your way through the system.
If you are in Idaho, you are lucky! It seems to me that the regulations for home schooling in this state are few. You must, provide an alternate educational experience for the child that “is otherwise comparably instructed” as that of public school. Because comparably instructed is not defined, districts vary greatly on what they see is comparable. If you are not sure what exactly “comparable” means, I suggest looking at Worldbook’s Typical Course of Learning chart. For every grade, they have a typical course of learning suggested.
