Homeschooling Week in Review April 7- 13, 2007

In the homeschooling blogs from last week I continued with the curriculum glossary project, and hope to have it done by the end of the month, along with an outline page so that you can easily find the curriculum that is right for you. I also touched on a few on a few homeschool topics that will interest you.

Here is the homeschooling week in review for April 7- 13.

April 7, 2007:

Homeschoolers Tend to be Withdrawn? Was the question I began with last week. This argument refuted the notion (once again) that is constantly brought up about the socialization of homeschoolers.

I also wrote the post Homeschool Curriculum Glossary (Math Fund- MCP Phonics) which touched on several homeschool curriculums like Math Fundamentals, Math U See, and MCP Phonics.

April 8, 2007:

Homeschool Week in Review March 31- April 6, 2007 gave a review of all of the articles written in the homeschool blog in the previous week.

April 9, 2007:

Homeschool Curriculum Glossary (Mantle-Math Facts) discussed curriculums and curriculum providers like Mantle Ministries, Marvelous Math for Windows, and Math Facts Now.

In Comparing Homeschooled to Public Schooled, I touched on why or why not, homeshoolers should be compared to public schooled children.

April 10, 2007:

Homeschool Curriculum Glossary (McRuffy-Morningstar) Discusses curriculums like McRuffy Press Kindergarten Phonics and Reading, and Moody Science Classics.

I also asked the question, Do You Want Free Stuff, or a Free Way of Life?,
and discussed how taking advantage of charter public school at home programs can cause a homeschooler to lose their free way of life.

April 11, 2007:

Homeschool Curriculum Glossary “Mother Goose-Mystery) discusses more curriculums for homeschooling like Mother Goose Time, Muzzy, and My Pals are Here.

In Reasons I am glad I homeschool: Local School Dangers, I discussed problems with public schools in my area and why homeschooling was probably my best option.

April 12, 2007

In the article, Public School Promoting Homeschooling when it is Convenient?, I wrote about the story of a teenage mother who the authorities are trying to push into homeschooling as they are being inconvenienced by her presence.

The post, Homeschool Curriculum Glossary (National Geographic- Numicon Math), talks about National Geographic My First Pocket Guides, Natural Speller, and other materials for homeschoolers.

April 13, 2007

What is Your Measurement of Success? Is the question I posed in this article. This article has to do with the dumbing down of schools over the span of just a few generations and points out that just because public school was good enough for you, does not mean it was good enough for your kids or grandchildren.

Homeschool Curriculum Glossary (Oak Meadow- Personal Proff) talks about the Oak Meadow curriculum and distance learning school, Pathway Readers, Personal Professors and more.
