If you are looking for a few appetizer ideas for a party or just something to serve the family when you are playing games or watching movies, here are two great recipes!
Hot and Spicy Chex Party Mix
For this recipe, you will need butter or margarine, seasoned salt, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper sauce, corn chex cereal, rice chex cereal, wheat chex cereal, mixed nuts, pretzels, and bite sized cheese crackers (Cheez-Its work well).
Heat your oven to 250 degrees. Once the oven is ready, put 1/4 cup of butter or margarine in a large pan, put it in the oven, and let the butter or margarine melt. Once it is melted, remove the pan from the oven and add 1 1/4 tablespoons of seasoned salt, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, and 2 to 3 tablespoons of red pepper sauce (depending on how spicy you want it). Stir that well, then add 3 cups of corn chex cereal, 3 cups of rice chex cereal, 3 cups of wheat chex cereal, 1 cup of mixed nuts, 1 cup of pretzels and 1 cup of bite sized cheese crackers. Stir to make sure everything is coated with the sauce mixture then place in the oven. Let it bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to turned everything. Spread on a paper towel to cool when done.
Nacho Popcorn
For the nacho popcorn, you will need microwavable popcorn, sliced ripe olives, chopped green chilies, chili powder, and shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
Pop two bags of the popcorn as directed. Open and remove any uncooked kernels. Place the cooked popcorn in four microwavable bowls. Sprinkle each one with a little chili powder then divide 1/2 cup of olives among the four bowls. Top that with 1/4 cup of chopped green chilies and 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided among the bowls. Place the bowls one at a time in the microwave and heat on high for about 1 minute or until the cheese is melted.
