Hot Summer Travel Deals for Families

“Three days and counting,” exclaims my cheerful 10-year-old cousin. He’s been counting down to summer vacation since school started last September. Danny has big plans for his summer break (his family’s plans have been shored up for a while). If your summer travel plans are still up in the air, then check out these travel bargains especially designed for families:

Disney Getaway. The “happiest place on earth” is offering a special family package with a price that will make you more than happy. If you have never visited Florida’s Walt Disney World then this is the summer to do so. For $1500, a family of four can enjoy six nights’ hotel accommodations at a Disney Value Resort and theme park passes for everyone. In addition, because you will be staying on Disney property, you have exclusive access to the parks when they are closed to the general public. The offer is valid through the end of the year (December 31, 2006) and the rates are based on prices for a family (staying in one room) with two young children; if children are under 10, the prices are lower; if children are over 17, the prices are higher. It’s a great Disney deal that allows you to be one of the first to experience the park’s newest attractions, including “Everest Expedition.”

A Family Trip to the Tropics. If you are searching for an island adventure that the whole family can enjoy then consider this deal from Sunburst Vacations. Kids stay for free (with their parents) at the all-inclusive (meaning that your room, activities, and all meals and drinks are included in one price) Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach in the Bahamas. The resort is located on 26 tropical acres with a 1,200-foot stretch of gently sloping white sand beach and offers a variety of water sports, a large swimming pool with a spacious sundeck, and tennis courts. At night the resort rocks with live entertainment and a sizzling disco. If you want to take advantage of this summer vacation bargain, you need to act fast, the offer expires July 31, 2006.

This Hotel’s Got Game. Or should I say games? Kids checking into Hyatt Resorts with their parents from now through August 31, 2006 get a free game from Cranium. The philosophy behind the promotion is that games like Cranium, Whoonu, Hullabaloo and Zigity will help promote family bonding. Whether you choose to play these “mind games” at the hotel, on the trip home, or at home, your children will love the fact that they receive a free gift upon check-in. In addition to the free games, the hotel has also created a Game Library at their resorts in the U.S. and Caribbean. It’s a great place to hang out when Mother Nature puts a damper on your outdoor plans.
