February is typically a slow period for New York City lodgings, which means Valentine’s Day lovebirds looking for great deals on hotel rooms can score big this month. (After all, nothing says love more than discounted rates if you live on a fixed budget.)
During the entire month of February the city’s tourist board, NYC & Company, is running a new promotion that showcases more than a dozen luxury hotels in Manhattan. It’s very simple: you pay for two nights and get the third free at 17 participating hotels. Plus all guests will receive a VIP package at the Saks Fifth Avenue New York store, including an exclusive personal shopping experience in the Fifth Avenue Club.

Speaking of Valentine’s Day treats… a Boston hotel is catering to chocoholics this Valentine’s Day (and beyond) with a decadent spread that’s sure to bring a smile to your lips (never mind what it will do to your hips).
The Langham in Boston, Massachusetts is offering a “Chocolate Bar” every Saturday from noon until 3 p.m. from now until June 28, 2008. For $35 ($17.50 for kids 5-12, kids 5 and under eat free) you can indulge in more than 120 chocolate desserts from mousses, cakes, crêpes, homemade ice cream, cookies, and milk chocolate passion fruit tarts, to miniature s’more cups, chocolate cotton candy, truffles, and donuts.
Finally, the Windy City just got a bit breezier…
Donald Trump just blew into Chicago. The hotelier opened his latest and greatest addition to the city’s luxury lodgings a few days ago.
The Trump International Hotel & Tower is now officially open for business, though you almost need to be on the Trumpster’s payroll to afford a room. Rates start about $500 (though the same rooms will be offered at a promo rate of $355 for the first year). The massive high rise is home to condos as well.
