Hotel Room Rates: How Low Can They Go?

Would you believe one cent?

It may sound like a joke, but actually, it’s a gimmick.

Still the deal is real.

No kidding.

Red Roof Inns is offering a stupendous deal to its RediCard loyalty members: Rooms for a single penny at select properties.

The one-cent deal is part of the chain’s new weekly promotion, which gives members of its RediCard loyalty program (sign-up is free) outstanding ways to save on hotel rooms.

The red-cent offer is good only at locations listed on the company’s website. Last week the deal included Red Roof’s Orlando Convention Center location. No surprise, it sold out fast.

Red Roof execs say the penny promotion will be offered on a limited basis and was inspired by low occupancy rates and a struggling economy.

The folks at Red Roof Inns are not the only ones digging deep to come up with creative ways to get visitors in the door.

Radisson Hotels & Resorts is currently offering free Friday night stays through September 15th when you stay two or more consecutive nights (Thursday through Saturday). To take advantage of the promotion reservations must be made a minimum of seven days in advance.

Visitors to the Windy City can score big savings at Chicago’s Talbott Hotel. The upscale property is giving a gift to past guests by allowing them to pay their age on their birthday this year. The offer is good for a deluxe king bedroom and can be used by anyone who was a registered guest at the luxury boutique hotel in 2008. For example, if you stayed at the hotel last year and you’re turning 37 this year, you can get a room on your 2009 birthday for $37 plus tax. In addition, any guest who stays at the hotel this year will have the chance to take advantage of the “Pay You’re Age” promotion on their birthday in 2010. Of course, it’s a better deal if you’re 25 than if you’re 65.
