Hotels Get Creative to Lure Guests

Where do they come up with this stuff?

It seems every time I log on to my computer another hotel chain is emailing me about a “new and exciting” travel package they have cleverly tied into some sort of event (a movie premiere, the Pope’s visit, the mailing of tax refund checks) or special occasion (Mother’s Day, Arbor Day, National Train Day). So I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to hear that a hotel in New York City has cooked up a creative way to offset the slew of “Sex and the City” movie premiere hotel packages that are currently being offered to Carrie Bradshaw and Cosmo lovers.

The Four Seasons Hotel New York has just unveiled the “It’s-Not-All-About-Sex-and-the-City” deal for guys only. The package includes a round of “anything but Cosmos” for two in the hotel bar, a steak dinner for two in the hotel’s 57 Restaurant; complimentary viewing of films such as “Rambo” and “Die Hard” plus manly-man guests will receive two “clog your arteries” breakfasts before they check out.

And if the food doesn’t give the guys a coronary than the price of this “Anti-Sex” deal just might. The packages start at $2,000 for two. Though considering the Four Seasons is one of the most luxurious lodgings in New York City it might just be worth the splurge.

Speaking of unique package deals… the Hualalai Sports Club and Spa on the Big Island of Hawaii if offering several new spa deals that highlight local eats. Only you won’t be chowing down on the Island delicacies; rather they will be used to pamper the rest of your body.

For example, cocoa beans rule in Hualalai’s Kona Coffee and Chocolate Decadence 80-minute spa treatment. It begins with the removal of old skin cells with an aromatic Kona coffee exfoliation, followed by a chocolate wrap that detoxifies while conditioning your face, body and feet. (According to hotel, “Chocolate has antioxidant properties and contains kaolin clay, which acts as a detoxifier.”) The treatment ends with a cleansing Vichy shower followed by a rubdown with moisturizing chocolate bliss creme containing shea butter.

YUM!
