One thing that seems to take forever in our house is pairing up socks. It is a chore so dreaded that I’ve resorted to paying my kids for matching socks whenever the single sock bag gets too full. Perhaps that isn’t a great idea. They might someday be encouraged to actually hide socks for pay.
To practically eliminate this problem, I went out and purchased three large mesh lingerie bags. Each bag is attached to the wall in each child’s room. When the kids take off their socks, they put them into their respective bag. I then simply take the bags, zip them up when full and toss them into the wash. The bags keep each child’s socks together. The best part? Each child is then responsible for matching his or her own socks and putting them away!
To keep the shower from needing a heavy duty weekly scrub attack it on a daily basis as soon as you get out of the shower. Either spray down the tiles with a mild cleaner, such as vinegar or use a small squeegee to wipe down the tiles. It will become routine and you may save yourself weeks and weeks of cleaning.
Make sure to do a regular fridge clean out to prevent a huge problem that needs to be addressed later. On garbage day (or the night before) remove anything out of the fridge that is past its prime. Spot clean any spills or dirty spots at the same time so you won’t have to do a full fridge scrub in the future.
