I hope that you enjoyed a good Thanksgiving holiday. How are you spending this day after?
For us, we started the day by sleeping in for a bit. We had a lot of sleep to make up, thanks to an emergency room visit and a long Thanksgiving day that ended with a two-hour drive back home. We enjoyed the day, but we all feel tired and a bit achy.
Our daughter woke up in her fancy dress, too tired to change when my husband carried her to bed half-asleep in the car. Despite the hot fudge stain on it from the kids make-you-own-Sundaes, she refuses to change it.
I’m trying not to plan out too much for today, although my mental fingers are itchy to make up a list. There is the Christmas tree to decorate, the outside light to put up, some firewood to chop and stack, and maybe even a visit to our favorite local attraction, all decorated for Christmas and hopefully not too busy today. We are not going to go Black Friday shopping at all. In fact, we would have missed all of the great deals, since the stores open now practically in the middle of the night.
Outside, our neighbor has been cutting down some of his trees, and his sheer industriousness makes me eager and guilty that we haven’t accomplished anything tangible this morning. I want to be able to point to something and say ah-ha, I made some sort of progress.
Then again, it might be nice to just sit around watching some movies and resting up after all of our recent adventures. I won’t have to cook today at least. We took home a collection of Thanksgiving leftovers, including pie.
Perhaps we can end the day with a roaring fire after baths and before bedtime.
Tell me about your day!
