How Are Your New Year’s Resolutions Going?

It is the end of the month and time to look at how your resolutions are going. How long did you last? Are you still going strong? Did you find out that you set too many resolutions at once? Is there something wrong with how you planned on achieving your goals? The end of the month is a great time to pick yourself back up and to start planning and preparing again. Here are some tips to help you be successful.

1) First congratulate yourself on the areas that you were successful in. No success is too small. If you have written in your journal or read your scriptures, these are things to be proud of.

2) Next you need to look at the goals that you were not successful at keeping. Was there something that consistently got in your way? Any goals that I plan to accomplish in the mornings just do not happen. Is there a time of day that is not working for you?

3) Do you need to cut back on some of your resolutions? If you take on too much you will not be successful. It is better to accomplish one or two new goals, than to not master any because you have overwhelmed yourself.

4) Do you need someone to be accountable to? A great person to do this with is your spouse. Depending on your goal you may also want to choose a friend. You can also be accountable to one of your children-this would be a great teaching opportunity for you.

5) Begin again. Remember that if you miss a day you can always begin again the next day. It does take time to form new habits. Do not become discouraged if it takes you loner than you want to reach your goals.
