Looking for a diet buddy? I mentioned that looking for one might be a thing to do in I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends earlier today. It occurred to me after making the suggestion that looking for a diet buddy may not be as easy as it sounds – so let’s explore a few ways that you can find a diet buddy.
You can run an ad in your Church newsletter or post a request on your homeowner’s community message boards or join an online club. There are plenty of online associations including eDiets.com, weightwatchers.com, the Biggest Loser Club online and more. You can find plenty of people in the same boat you are. If you do find someone through an online link or in your local community – talk to him or her regularly over the phone, in person or through email.
You might try joining a support group or start a support group yourself and invite others to join you. By starting your own support group, you can be the leader and you can inspire yourself by providing inspiration to others. It’s amazing how relieving it can be to share your difficulties and challenges with others who are feeling the same way.
Try asking someone in your family or from your circle of friends to join you and ask them help you. Many married couples will partner up when it comes to dieting and they can help each other to succeed by supporting each other through choices and through failures. Because that’s the biggest problem we face when we diet – the chance that we may fail and that failure will be a setback and all of our efforts will be for naught.
If all of the above doesn’t work – try entering a contest. There are plenty of them out there from the Abs Diet to the Biggest Loser. Contests can make you strive past what you might normally do – if you are extremely competitive – you may find yourself not only winning a prize such as money – but succeeding in your weight loss efforts – and what more can you ask for?
What ideas do you have or have you had to find a diet buddy or join a contest for weight loss?
