How Can You Know God’s Will for Your Life? Part 2

Have you sat down and worked out your list of God given gifts and abilities? What course of action is required for you to use you talents and gifts?

In my previous blog, How Can You Know God’s Will? Part 1 I identified four areas of gifts and abilities God gave me. What course of action was required for me to use my talents and gifts? God challenged me with Matthew 28:19 about making disciples of all nations. I decided one way of doing that was through the written word.

Point seven of the eleven principles in Discovering God’s Will by Warren and Ruth Myers.“>Discovering God’s Will was providential circumstances. The circumstances tallied, for we had not initiated this planned move but my husband’s job was being relocated by the State government. In Revelation 3:8 I read ‘Behold, I have put before you an open door which no-one can shut.’ I began to see that though the Department of Agriculture was driving this move, God was really the one who initiated it. This move would be an open door to opportunity. How I didn’t know, at that point.

In Philippians 1:2 Paul testifies that his circumstances and situation, rather than hindering the gospel, had served to advance the gospel. Perhaps, I thought, our situation could also advance the gospel. Perhaps I could help others in finding guidance and God’s direction, particularly if I wrote about God’s guidance and answered prayer. Then too, Romans 8:28 assured me that ‘God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.’ All things – even a move out of the city where I’d grown up and loved. All things even splitting up a family. At the time I couldn’t see how this could be. But God could.

Point eight looked at personal desires and pointed me to verse 4 from one of my favorite psalms – Psalm 37. I thought about the desire of my heart- time to write. Perhaps in Orange I might have that time as I would not be committed to so many other activities.

Why don’t you take time now to write down the desire of your heart? And then wait and watch to see how, as you delight in the Lord and seek His Will, He will grant your desire.

Scripture verses used are from the New American Standard Version.
