How Do You Fold Towels?

Are you particular when it comes to folding towels? Do you do halves, thirds, squares, or just roll them up? Maybe your mom had a special method and she taught it to you. My mom does, but I don’t really do it the same as she does. I do use the tri-fold thing on bath towels, and I fold hand towels the same way as my mom, but I do bath sheets, beach towels, and washcloths differently.

Sometimes, I like to roll the towels. I like the way they look, so I usually do it if company is coming. I just take the towels by the corners, hold them out lengthwise side to side, and then fold in half. I fold in half once more then roll them up tightly.

Mom never rolled towels. She did the first two steps described above then folded in thirds from top to bottom. I either do it like that or fold in half from top to bottom. It depends on the size of the towels. Folding in thirds can be too bulky for bigger towels, since I have quite a few but have limited shelf space, but it works for hand towels.

My mom always folded washcloths in half lengthwise, but I fold them into squares so I can stack them in this cute wicker basket I found. I do the same with dishcloths. These methods are pretty basic, but there are also fancy ways to fold towels. Do you like the way they are folded in hotel rooms? How about the way towels can be folded to look like cute little critters?
