After a few crazed minutes of playing where she should not have my little one came away a complete mess. She escaped to the upstairs going unnoticed by all. She is quite stealthy. She walked past her brother doing feats of math, her sister playing Barbies, and her other sister with her nose deep in a book. Me? I was in the little girl’s room. Anyway, she decided it would be fun to get into my make up that I left on my dresser. Once she was discovered in the act, she promptly left the room with her head down. I began to clean up the mess on my dresser to ensure her mitts couldn’t reach it again. As I was doing that she went past her sister with her nose deep in a book, past her sister playing Barbies, and past her brother doing feats of math to find her way into the kitchen. Noticing the quiet I realized my precious went downstairs and ran to see what awaited me. What awaited me was a child knee deep in food coloring. Someone put it in the wrong drawer. What’s the wrong drawer? Any drawer my curious cat can reach. She looks up at me wide eyed with bluish green hands and feet. No words had to be spoken as we both headed to the bathroom for clean up. Once we arrived I noticed a sticker on her foot. Apparently, she stole it from her sister as we walked past her brother doing feats of math, her sister playing Barbies, and her other sister with her nose deep in a book, on the way to the bathroom to get cleaned up.
Clean up was far from easy. I was quite certain my child would either have to live without skin or with bluish green hands and feet for the rest of her life. Praises to the internet which taught me that baking soda removes food coloring from skin. Now it does not remove it from carpeting, mind you. From skin it works wonders. Just mix water with baking soda so it forms a paste. Simply apply it as a paste and lightly scrub the area. Soon your child will be food coloring free.
She got all clean and dressed again to go past her sister with her nose deep in a book, past her sister playing Barbies, past her brother doing feats of math, to the dining room for her cup of juice. As I was filling her cup, she grabbed her sister’s cup and spilled it on the computer chair. She ran to me and said, “Mommy, mommy, I need napkin. I spilled water. Not on purpose. On accident.” At least she was willing to help clean it up.
And that’s how I found out that baking soda removes food coloring stains from skin.
