We all know that in order to lose weight we need to:
*eat less calories
*exercise more
This isn’t a big secret or mystery. Yet sometimes, we all need a little extra support in following the yellow brick road to our goal weight. After all, having to admit that you cheated on your diet to an entire group of people is motivation enough to not cheat in the first place! Enter the complete weight loss programs. You’ve heard of them: L.A. Weight Loss, Jenny Criag, Weight Watchers and the list can go on. The question is, just how much money are you willing to fork over to reach your weight loss goals?
The diet industry has become a $43.6 billion (that’s right–that was a ‘b’) per year industry. Now that isn’t just weight loss centers but also diet foods, supplements and a myriad of other ‘dieter’s tools.’ Let’s take a look at how much it will cost you to shed pounds if you go the weight loss center route.
L.A. Weight Loss
Out of all the centers that I looked at, this one is the most questionable. People (like one Ms. Whoopi Goldberg) do lose weight, however, L.A. Weight Loss has a bad reputation for hidden fees and costs as well as withholding or delaying refunds due to their clients. There are bars to buy as well as other supplements but you wouldn’t get that unless you read the site carefully. (Which of course you should always do.)
From now, until June 9th, you can sign up and pay ’only’ $5 per week. . .plus the cost of set up and their weight loss bars L A Lites. The set up fee is undisclosed and varies from center to center. One center disclosed their set up fee as $174, but most centers will not tell you the set up fee without meeting with the you first.
The highlight of the program is one on one nutritional counseling without prepackaged meals. (There are those bars and supplements though. . .) If you hate the thought of a public weigh in, but need accountability this may well appeal to you.
So how much will it cost? The cost is based on how much weight you have to lose, plus a 6 week stabilization period, and 52 weeks of maintenance. When you sign up this is what you’re paying for. So let’s say you have 20 pounds to lose at a rate of 2 pounds per week, and you rush right over after reading this article to sign up, thus taking advantage of the $5 per week deal:
$5 per week for 10 weeks in the Weight Loss Phase = $50
$5 per week for 6 weeks in the Stabilization Phase = $30
$5 per week for 52 weeks in the Maintenance Phase = $260
Grand Total: $340 plus the cost of L A Lites and supplements. And of course it will cost you more if you have more than 20 pounds to lose.
