How Observant is Your Spouse?

How observant is your spouse? I remember once seeing a man give his wife a present. Everyone saw the look on her face, when she unwrapped the practical gift for the kitchen, except him. He was busy feeling pleased with himself for his gift and really thought he’d chosen well. It has since I’m pretty sure sat in the cupboard and never been used. But then one other time he admitted he didn’t have a clue what sort of things she liked. From what I hear from a number of women it’s a common enough problem. Many women claim their husband wouldn’t know where to start to buy a gift for them.

I can’t help but wonder if it works the same in reverse – women buy presents for their husbands thinking they will like them and the husband is totally bemused as to why their wife would have even thought of such a thing.

It all comes down to knowing your spouse’s tastes. It helps if you go shopping together. You can point out the type of things you like which might give him a clue, though that doesn’t always work. Men can be oblivious to hints unless they’re really obvious. Maybe we women can too and don’t pick up on the little hints our husbands drop. What do you think?

I’ve often had people comment on things Mick has bought for me and how well he knows my taste. And it’s true. But then he’s had a lot of years to figure it out. I don’t think it was always as successful.

What was the best present your spouse ever gave you? What was the worst present they ever gave you?

You can read upon one such gift here and tomorrow I’ll tell you another about mine and give some solutions for buying a gift for your spouse. You can either use it yourself or give it to your spouse for some ideas.
