Recently I discussed the movie “The Challenge” in which Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were the stars. That was a later movie filmed by the girls in which they were older and more mature. Another one of their movies that is a favorite in my family is “How the West was Fun”. In this movie the girls can be seen in their younger years.
The two girls live in the city with their father. Their mother passed away. A year or so after her death, the family receives a letter from the mother’s favorite childhood ranch. It seems that the ranch is in need of help.
The two girls want to go but their father insist that his boss, “the dragon lady” would never allow him to take off from his insurance job. While their father is out, the two girls call and leave a message with his boss that their father will begin his vacation the next day. The boss lady calls back and leaves a message stating that he can take his vacation but that there is no need to return to work because he is fired. The girls only play the first part of the message for their father. The family heads out to the ranch.
They find that the ranch is in financial trouble because it is no longer receiving visitors. The girls soon discover that the owner’s son, Bart, is the cause of the trouble. He plans to turn the ranch into an amusement park. Bart and the girls go through many battles throughout the movie over the destination of the ranch. However in the end the girls prevail and the ranch is saved.
Their dad finds a girlfriend and the girls learn more about their mother and get closer to nature.
This is a very good family movie and enforced the importance of saving our natural resources.
