How to Build a Better You

Have you ever looked in the mirror and wished you could be better, faster, and stronger or something ‘more’ than what you are? The first tip towards achieving that goal is recognizing that you are who you decide to be. If you want to be a better person, then be a better person. If you want to be a fitter person, then be a fitter person. There is no waving of the magic wand that turns your rags into a beautiful ball gown and the dogs in your life into capable footmen.

The truth of the matter is you build a better you. You make those decisions. You have to look yourself in the eye. You are the one who can see inside yourself. You know your flaws, your strengths and your weaknesses.

Why Should I Work Out?

I’ve talked to a lot of people about this question. I’ve read the experts. I’ve heard the stories. I’ve seen the results of working out and I’ve seen the results of not working out. In all my experience, it all boils down to how I feel. It’s not about what’s good for me, it’s about how I feel. When I work out, I feel better. I feel stronger. I feel more capable. I feel good.

Why should you work out? Only you can answer that for yourself.

Should I Change My Diet?

The experts recommend that dieting is most effective when you make a lifestyle change. Crash diets have their place, sure. If you want to drop ten pounds for one special event that you don’t care if you get the pounds back, then a crash diet may work. But in the great, grand scheme things, a diet is about changing your lifestyle. It means reaching for water instead of soda, steaming vegetables instead of frying them and maybe eating a little less red meat and more chicken and fish.

But who makes that call? Who decides what’s doable as a lifestyle change?

Yep.

You.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Be honest with yourself, what makes you happy? Where do you want to be? How do you want to get there? Too often we forget that we take joy in seeing others be happy and we forget that we can be happy with ourselves too – you will get more from any fitness program you choose if you are happy with it and with yourself.

So tell me, what makes you happy?
