How to Decotrate Any Room for $300 or Less

When it comes to decorating your house, you may feel overwhelmed by the cost of everything. From furniture to flooring, wall hangings to accessories, decorating your room can really break your bank and send you back to square one. Here are some decorating tips to help to maximize your budget. The advice we will offer all falls under $300 and will help to add instant punch to an otherwise punch-less room.

Candles ($5-15)
Candles are an immediate fixer-upper for any room. They add elegance, flair, good scents and a feeling of purpose. Each candle you purchase will cost about $5-15 depending, on the type, size and brand. Make a commitment to purchase as many candles as you can. It is amazing how much a candle can make a tabletop or room feel entirely pulled together in no time.

Lamps ($15-45)
It is easy to find inexpensive lamps that are well made and nicely designed. Shop in the clearance section of your local hardware store or home decorating store for items that were returned or were made in a previous year. Lamps will create space and mood for every room and are, after all, essential when it comes to night. Each room should have at least three sources of light, spread out in a triangle. Those light sources can be floor lamps, ceiling fixtures, lamps or otherwise.

Carpet ($45-100)
Once of the dead giveaways of a home that is not pulled together is a missing carpet. When decorating your home, do not skimp on the essentials, like a comfortable and colorful carpet that is pleasing to look at and nice on bare feet. Visit local carpet warehouses for good deals. Many of them will sell carpet pieces that have been taken off of larger cuts of carpet. You can get these pieces at a discount and conceal any unfinished edges under furniture.

Artwork ($20-50)
If you visit a home furnishings discount store, you should be able to find some highly marked down pieces of artwork that are already framed and will look great in your space. These pieces of artwork will most likely be prints and many of them are designed to suit well in any room. You never want to have bare walls in your room, unless you are trying to make a minimalist statement. Artwork will help to pull your space together and give it a sense of being complete.

Pillows ($10-20)
Purchase several accent pillows to leave behind for functional and aesthetic purposes on your sofa or other seating areas. These pillows will help to break up a solid color sofa and add flair to any room. If you are on a tight budget, you can even make your own pillows by purchasing fabric and foam pillow molds from your local discount fabric store.

Blankets ($15-30)
Nicely colored blankets look great when draped over the back of a sofa or chair. They are also functional in cold weather months. Purchase brightly colored blankets that reflect your fun personality. They are available in a wide range of textures and patterns to suit your tastes and budget.
