How to Find Free Movie Screenings

Would you like to take in a brand new movie for free, one that hasn’t even come out yet? Get on the list!

Movie companies like to have select audiences preview a movie before it is released to the general public. This helps them figure out things about the movie, such as how to market it, which music to use as a theme, even whether or not they should change the ending. The feedback that they get is invaluable, even when most of the time, the movie a preview audience sees is exactly the same one that gets released weeks later.

I remember the first time I was given tickets to a screening. My companion and I were eating lunch at a mall food court. It was lunch hour at work, so we were dressed in business attire. A man approached us and said he was looking for young professionals to preview a new Robert Downey Jr. Movie and would we be interested in tickets? We said yes, and he told us where and when.

The movie was shown in a regular movie theater and afterward, the audience was given a card to fill out that contained questions about our opinion of the movie. The five minutes it took to fill out the card was well worth getting to see the movie for free and in advance of everyone else.

While being in the right place at the right time makes it easier for getting to see free movies, nowadays, there are other ways to find opportunities. It helps if you are near a major city, but that isn’t always the case. Milford, Ct., for example, usually has a wealth of movie prescreening opportunities.

Search for movie screenings online, or visit gofobo.com and filmmetro.com to look for free movie screenings. Right now, paperbackswap.com is offering free movie screening to the new movie, “The Help,” which is based on the best selling book.
