Did you know that there’s a right way to load a dishwasher? I know that everyone who owns a dishwasher has a particular way he or she prefers to load the washer. Have you ever read the manual for your dishwasher? I did and discovered that there is a way to load our washer for best results.
I appreciate my husband’s help with the dishes and I would never complain, but he doesn’t load it right. I learned from my mom growing up to load the silverware with the handles down so there’s no rust. The manual for my dishwasher, however, has knives positioned in openings pointing down. The manual says the way to avoid the silverware nesting inside each other is to alternate the types of silverware in the baskets and to alternate pointing up and pointing down.
I have a way of loading the dishes on top that I really like and am used to. It seems to work and the dishes are clean most of the time. The manual says to have five plates pointing one way and another five plates pointing the other direction facing them. If I have few plates, I keep a space in between them.
We used to run the dishwasher every couple days when it was full. Then we had children and I had to clean bottles in the sink. I hate cleaning dishes in the sink. I have a dishwasher for that. So we decided that it was more efficient to run the dishwasher every night before bed. Now I wake up to clean bottles and sippy cups each morning with very little effort on my part.
I put my pots and pans in the dishwasher too. I don’t think I’m supposed to do that. The cooking surface is fine, but the outside looks terrible.
