How to Lose Weight on Vacation

left

How many times have you gone on vacation and returned home toting more than just your bags? For many Americans, it is a rite of passage to pack on a few pounds during a fun-filled trip. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. There’s a new trend in travel that turns the table on seasonal getaways and weight gain. Exer-cations are a hot ticket for people looking to stay fit or even shed a few pounds while they are away from home.

Fortunately, you don’t have to travel too far to take advantage of these package deals. For example, Zion Canyon located in Zion National Park hosts dozens of beginner and veteran walkers, runners and hikers to its exceptional trail system. The popular natural treasure sits just east of St. George, Utah, and 160 miles north from Las Vegas, Nevada. Voted as one of the most phenomenal geological wonders in the world–thanks to its towering sunset-colored sandstone cliffs–Zion Canyon will motivate you to get moving.

However, if you are not very physically fit, you could just enjoy an easy stroll along the Virgin River on Zion’s Riverside Walk. Shuttle buses deposit visitors to the start of the trail every 10 minutes and you are able to explore the area at your own pace. For more advanced outdoor enthusiasts, the Narrows Trail offers challenging and beautiful terrain. The trail takes about six hours to complete, though there are a number of stunning scenic areas where you can stop to have a snack or rehydrate.

Finally, if you are a runner you might want to explore Weeping Rock trail which is paved and extends for about a quarter mile. The trail ends at a bowl-shaped rock formation where water seeps out the sand stone and gives life to ferns, grass and wild flowers.
